Beauvais Lyons Article
After going through several of the articles I have realized that I need to try and find more interesting matters, such as a specific topic that will force me to read more about art. I’ve video and performances aren’t one. However, there was one article that got my attention quickly “ Humor at work: Beauvis Lyons at the American Philosophical Society and the Dufala Brothers at Haverford College.” The reason this caught my eye was the way that this man presents himself and his art work the two just don’t match. First he is stated first to be a sober man before the details are told of his humor. He presents himself with a straw hat, bow tie and suit as shown in the picture with a bible placed under his arm a typical church man I would say if I see him. However, then he places a pamphlet in your hand and says “HERE, HAVE SOME PROPAGANDA” let me remind you this is for the proceeding around his display set up. And if that wasn’t enough to catch my eye his work would. The way he depicts animals, he does a kind of Egyptian B.C type appearance distorting animals giving them different qualities and characteristics of fellow animals but in a weird way.
With one of his piece he takes a gorilla as shown in the picture and places it on top of a ducks lower half. But the best part of his work is not just the work alone it’s his final words for the pieces as he walks you through the exhibit quoting the bibles verses, in ways that he believe it fits its context. After reading this article I looked up more of his work to find out a little more about who Beauvais Lyons is a printmaker whose prints display the same things his sculptures display. A fish with a cat’s bottom or a duck with a fish bottom, and the list goes on. The one shocking thing about him is he looks like a typical guy more, I would never believe that he creates the works that he do. Its goes to show in the case of art you can really never judge a book by its cover. I love his works he has now become one of my favorite artist.

Type project
In my foundations computer class we were given the assignment to create a non representation
representational, and emotional piece using only type. Above are my works of abstract pretty circles, a carrot, and lips.
Freshman Lecture
One word "Confused", I was confused I think he was confused. However, he knew one thing that your computer should not act as your studio space. There was no way i payed attention, because after i realized that he was unsure with his presentation i drifted off into my own world.

Image Usage (Computer Class)
After watching the two clips on the different perspectives of access and the usage of others property my feelings towards the two were mixed. When summing up my views of the minors identity being used for advertisement without her awareness, or approval I felt that she should feel used because of the way that her image was placed in content. While also she should be a little eangry, not for money purposes, but for the reasons that if she would have never came across the image she would have never known what her picture was being used for. With this situation however I think she lucked up because they could have used it for X-rated usage. While on the other hand with the gentleman speaking on taking traditional images and videos using it to convey a different message it doesn’t really bother me that much. Even though I believe the same argument can arise, what if the picture was used for a disturbing message instead of a meaningful message.
Freshman Lecture...
When I first walked into the freshman lecture, being as though this was the first one I have attended I was not as attentive as I should have been of the information that he was providing us with. However, I was able to zone into a point I thought as being interesting the questions of art, what is it, why there is no proper way to give a grade to art, and why artist don’t taken bubbled in test. Often iam asked the same questions he spoke about, of how do I get graded for art. There is no rubric and there is not set formula you must go by, but the way you convey your message and the craftsmanship determine it all. Even though to me art is done with a set of guidelines and formulas, such as your emotions how your marks reveal that and the way you compose your piece it is not stated that every time a piece is done it must be done a specific way, abstract or representational. Bringing me to the second question that he talked about why artist don’t have bubbled test. How do you test a whole class on their work when the emotion, fantasy, or messages in the pieces are not all the same? Unlike math, English and Science, Art cannot be depicted on yes and no or right and wrong answers, because who are you to tell someone their emotions are the wrong answer.
In just a few moments he answered questions that I never had the correct wording to inform someone of why Art was so much different than any other course. Now I am able to speak about the difference with more the typical response of because we’re unique.

Walking through the city
While walking through the city to find interesting pictures, i found myself more interested in the streets apperance. As compared to the streets a normal tourist would visit i walked down graffiti streets. Finding murals and block parties, or paintings on the sides of walls done by children. Over rall it was a different view then i was use to we have few murals in my neighborhood, and how the schools were gated in was amazing to me. It was a scary yet adventurous walk through alleys and the back streets that very few freshmans know of other then the main streets.

My First Memory
My first memory consists of me and koolaid. I can remember being at least 9 or 10 years old and it was during the summer time of course, in my neighborhood we had a candy lady. This lady made the best freeze pops in the world they were in styrofoam containers and it was simply frozen koolaid. However the best part about the freezy was that even after you was done with all the koolaid the styrofoam would hold onto the flavor, so i would chew on koolaid styrofoam. PLEASE dont knock the idea and the concept of koolaid styrofoam until you have tried it. And my friends thats the end to my first memory!
